Volvo to Build Next Gen XC90 at South Carolina Facility

Last month, Volvo Cars declared that the company is building the next-generation of its XC90 SUV at its new manufacturing plant near Charleston, South Carolina. In adding a second vehicle to the facility's production capability, Volvo will have hired nearly 4,000 new employees at the Berkeley County site. It's also worth noting that this brings Volvo Cars' total investment in the company's U.S. manufacturing operations to more than $1.1 billion.

Also, Volvo is expanding its nearby office campus by building a new office building that will be home to up to 300 employees from the Purchasing, Research & Development, Quality and Southern region sales teams.

In a press release, Håkan Samuelsson, President and Chief Executive, remarked, "The continued expansion of our plant in South Carolina is another significant commitment to the US market. The plant in Charleston will serve both the US and international markets and forms a strong foundation for our future growth in the U.S. and globally."

Our showroom at 2502 West 26th Street in Erie proudly serves Volvo drivers from the Fairview, Edinboro and Findley Lake, NY, areas.
